Throughout these lessons we'll go through the process of creating character concept designs for a design brief.
What you'll learn
Throughout these lessons we'll go through the process of creating character concept designs for a design brief. We'll start with a very quick sketch of the concept to solidify the idea in our minds, then we will sketch the general shape of the concept before cleaning up the drawing on another layer. Finally, we'll block in and then refine the color while rendering out to an appropriate finish. Along the way, we'll emphasize the importance of the procedure and how to use the process to help move you forward quickly in your work. The process is simple and straightforward and allows the artist to focus on creating a clear, readable concept design. By the end of this training, you will have seen the exact process I use in my day to day work creating character concepts in a technique that works equally well in games, film, or toy design.
