What you'll learn
In this course we will walk through the process of building a basic Drupal 7 site. We start with installation and cover all of the major pieces of site building, including content, menus, blocks, users, and adding modules and themes. Along the way we'll define all of the common Drupal terminology and at the end you will have your first Drupal site, as well as the basic building blocks to build many more sites. We also walk through a typical launch checklist, and show you how you can keep your site up to date once it is live.
About the authors
Kyle Hofmeyer has a degree in film-making, and has been building sites with Drupal since 2008. In addition to being a Drupal trainer, he also the in-house audio/video editor for Drupalize.Me. He enjoys taking complex subjects and making them easy to understand. Kyle's areas of expertise include web design, CMS platform implementation, usability, cross browser compatibility/testing, XHTML/CSS, site analytics, video/audio production, and of course, a variety of Drupal stuff. Joe Shindelar is a web developer, teacher, and snowboarding enthusiast who has been building Drupal sites and participating in Drupal core development since 2006. In addition to teaching Drupal, he is the lead developer for Drupalize.Me. Joe is a sought-after presenter who has spoken at numerous conferences, Drupal camps, and events about everything from code-level development to user interface, design, and community involvement. Michelle Lauer started her Drupal adventures in 2006 and quickly became known for her incredible sense of detail while possessing the ability to see the big picture. These innate skills allowed Michelle to cultivate her specialty of site architecture and multi-phased deployments. In addition to custom module development and theming, she develops and implements the strategy for complex content architecture from the end-user experience to the manageability by website administrators.
