IP addresses are required to move traffic over data networks, and IP addresses come with some very specific rules, which have been modified in complex ways to meet the needs of modern networks. In this course, Networking Concepts: IP Addressing for CompTIA Network+, you’ll learn all the skills required to configure and support IP addresses in networking. First, you’ll explore how to convert decimal numbers to binary and hexadecimal, and back again. Next, you’ll discover the rules that govern IP addresses and how to apply them. Finally, you’ll learn how to understand IPv6 addresses. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of IP Addressing needed to understand data networking.

About the author

Ross has had a diverse career. He has a Structural Engineering degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering, but gave up the career shortly after graduating from college. Beginning in 1997, Ross began officially working in IT, implementing and supporting a paperless work order system for a Natural Gas Utility in Illinois.
