Understanding potential network issues allows a network technician to rule out possible theories of probable cause more quickly. Understanding the tools available to help isolate these potential network issues, allows the technician the ability to test any theories. In this course, Network Troubleshooting: Common Issues and Solutions for CompTIA Network+, you’ll learn to use network troubleshooting tools to isolate potential issues. First, you’ll explore performance issues with wired and wireless networks. Next, you’ll discover software tools available to a technician including tcpdump, Wireshark, nmap, and netstat. Finally, you’ll learn how to issue commands to better understand network hardware functions. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of troubleshooting data networks needed to use appropriate tools to troubleshoot data networks.

About the author

Ross has had a diverse career. He has a Structural Engineering degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering, but gave up the career shortly after graduating from college. Beginning in 1997, Ross began officially working in IT, implementing and supporting a paperless work order system for a Natural Gas Utility in Illinois.
