by Ross Bagurdes

This course will teach you the essentials required to understand the protocols and operations of data networking, some of the most critical foundations to passing the Network+ certification exam.

What you'll learn

Data networks are complex and use a finite and precise set of rules to operate, which can be simple and beautiful if you understand the processes involved. In this course, Networking Concepts: Networking Basics and Ethernet for CompTIA Network+, you’ll learn how the OSI model is used to establish an order of operations for network communications and the basics of ethernet. First, you’ll explore the OSI model and examine the real world purpose of each layer. Next, you’ll discover the essentials of ethernet operation including how ethernet switches forward traffic. Finally, you’ll learn how to identify different cable and connector types and where they are used. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of data networking needed to understand the OSI model and ethernet operation required for the CompTIA Network+ certification.
