Working with Essential Red Hat Linux System Administration Tools - Extending Storage (LVM/VDO)

  1. Challenge

Add the /dev/nvme3n1 disk to the vdoLV Logical Volume.

Please wait a few minutes before connecting with ssh to allow the lab time to finish provisioning. After connecting with ssh, become root with:

    sudo -i

    This task has multiple steps.

    1. pvcreate /dev/nvme3n1 (Give this command time to run).
    2. vgextend vdoDev /dev/nvme3n1
    3. lvextend -l +100%FREE /dev/vdoDev/vdoLV
  2. Challenge

Extend the VDO Physical Disk to 60GB, and the Logical Size to 180GB

To extend the physical size, we'll run:

    vdo growPhysical --name=LA

And to extend the Logical size (Give this command time to run):

    vdo growLogical --name=LA --vdoLogicalSize=180G

  3. Challenge

Grow the XFS filesystem to match the underlying VDO disk

All we have to do here, in order to grow the underlying filesystem, is this (Give this command time to run):

    xfs_growfs /mnt/vdo
