What you'll learn

Get a deeper understanding of editing and be ready to tackle more elaborate projects, armed with the insights of an experimental filmmaker. In this course, Psychological Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, you'll examine multiple layers of editing to reveal what psychological tips and tricks can be employed to best tell the story and to make the audience feel what we as the editor want them to feel. First, you'll learn about the ideas of psychological montage and how you can affect your audience's needs. Next, you'll learn how to make your cuts seemingly invisible. Then, you'll learn how to direct your audience to what they need and want to see. Finally, you'll learn how to cut together a short experimental film to bring it all together. By the end of this course, you'll have the tools and reasoning on how to use them to really take your edits to a whole new level as you'll now be thinking more like an editor. Joshua Samson began his career as a child stage actor and soon changed his focus to filmmaking. He has been working with film since the 6th grade and earned both a B.S. of Film Studies from Missouri State University and an M.F.A. in Film Studies from the University of Utah.
