According to a report in techradar.com today

"Microsoft has confirmed to TechRadar that it will look to build a version of Silverlight that will work on the iPhone"

I haven't seen such a commitment corroborated by any other source yet but techradar.com makes it sound pretty good.

I am a little concerned by the phrase "will look to build" – as that doesn't quite sound like a commitment on Microsoft's part – but, fingers-crossed; I hope that it's true.

A quick addendum...

Be sure to read the entire techradar.com article - Microsoft doesn't provide a guarantee.

Apple has been giving it real bad to Microsoft lately, especially with its ignorant TV commercials, yet it shows that Microsoft still works on expanding its support even on Apple products. Microsoft has always shown its professionalism in its line of work and especially when it comes to software.
