  • Don't miss the next Windows Mobile Webcast... Unit Testing for Mobile Devices: http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032382824&EventCategory=4&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US.
Those of you who were at my Adapt Your App: Working with Windows Mobile Security webcast last week may recall that I mentioned a soon-to-be-released tool, Device Security Manager, that enables you to understand and test just how your Windows Mobile app behaves under various security configurations.

Good News!! It's no longer soon-to-be-released, the Device Security Manager is now available - here's some of what it does.
  • Display the current security settings of an ActiveSync connected device or emulator
  • Display the installed certificates of an ActiveSync connected device or emulator
  • Display the security settings associated with common security configurations
  • Provision an ActiveSync connected device (as long as the carrier hasn't locked it down) or emulator with the desired security settings

I really recommend integrating this utility into your regular development/testing cycle so that you can see the impacts of various security configurations on your application throughout the process rather then at the end when something suddenly breaks.

If you're unfamiliar with the security capabilities of Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, check out last week's webcast which was dedicated to just this topic.

BTW: The last installment of our 3-part Adapt Your App webcast series, Adapt Your App: Installing and Distributing Windows Mobile Applications is this Wednesday (28-June-2006). I hope to see you there.

In the hope that a picture is worth 1,000+ words, here's a screen shot of the Device Security Manager J
