I'm starting a new 5-part webcast series tomorrow. The series will run every Wednesday between now and MEDC. All webcasts start at 11 am PDT, 2 pm EDT, 19:00 GMT. (hopefully one of those will help you identify what time it starts where you live J)
These webcasts introduce and address what I like to call "Second App Issues".
You've built your first Windows Mobile application and thanks to Visual Studio 2005, you were able to do so using only your existing Windows developer skills. Now you're ready to build a more sophisticated Windows Mobile app and you find that your existing Windows developer skills are still useful but there's more. Building a truly mobile application requires additional skills such as dealing with differences between the various Windows Mobile devices, deployment and data management issues, even Game Development is a little different then when working on the desktop.
Understanding these "Second App Issues" is the key to moving beyond building simple small screen versions of desktop applications and instead successfully building truly mobile applications.
Here's the list of sessions:
If you're attending MEDC (or considering attending), you'll find that these webcasts will provide you with a solid understanding of the major issues being addressed at the conference and which specific MEDC sessions provide more information on the topic. Note that this is not an MEDC pep rally, the only mention of MEDC will be the list of MEDC sessions that expand on the topic discussed - and even then, the MEDC specific information will not be discussed until the end of the webcast. If you're looking for MEDC specific information, you can visit the MEDC 2006 Homepage
Again, this a technical-content-driven series (not conference promotional fluff) and will be useful for anyone looking to move beyond developing simple small-screen versions of desktop apps and instead wants to start building truly mobile applications.
