Partly this is my excuse for not blogging for a while (the pre-going-on-vacation bulge in work, the vacation itself, and now the just-back-from-vacation bulge). But, we also had a great time, and I wanted to share :)
We are just back from a stay in Zurich. My wife and I had been there some 18 years ago, and really liked the area: the city, the countryside, everything. We always said we'd go back someday again. After a lot longer than we'd planned, we finally did it.
Zurich is still great: we loved wandering about the old town, the museums, and being out on the lake. Furthermore, window shopping on the Bahnhofstrasse is still an interesting experience for someone brought up in a midwest farming town ;). They also have an event going on where they got artists to do up some 600+ teddy bear statues (normally about 5' high), which are placed around the town. A lot of them were pretty inventive (there's a reproduction of the Abbey Road cover with 4 bears down up as the Beatles), and there were a lot of bad puns in the names.
We also got out of town (again, doing the tourist thing), and visited Lucerne, including a trip up Mt Pilatus, and then out to the Appenzell, including a trip up Santis. It was a fantastic few days away. Even the weather held for pretty much our whole trip.
Now, back to work...
