Yet another step in formalizing Web service contract

One of the things I love about WS-Policy is how it moves yet another aspect of the Web service contract from English to a formal, machine-readable language. Jong and David called it another piece of "phone call avoidance". Besides the obvious advantages in precision, the migration of contract to machine-readable formats allows tooling like IDEs and firewalls to add even more value.
 
In case you think visually, here's a (Venn) diagram that shows WS-Policy's contribution to the contract relative to XML Schema and WSDL. It's from a longer paper on this topic.
