I had several people ask about the events that happen between the time I finish writing and the when the book actually comes out, so I thought I'd post an update on the progress…
 
Keith and I just finished reviewing / approving the copy edits on the manuscript, so the text is ready to go. The copy editor for the book was actually located in Eastport, Maine (the same state I live in) so I was tempted to actually go meet her, but it was still a 4+ hour drive from where I am.
 
Anyway, now Addison Wesley is redrawing many of the figures for consistency (I think I may submit hand-drawn figures next time :) and things are moving along. The goal is still to have copies available at TechEd Europe in Barcelona by November 7!

Dear Onion Blog:
I'm tearing my hair out due to ignorance regarding asp.net application deployment.

If you could give me some pointers I'd much appreciate it.
Facts: 1-Able to run app in VS.
2-Able to run deployed app via IIS/Browse on deployment Server.

Can't see .asp or .aspx files through IE to open pages directly. If I switch to show all files and open one of my .aspx pages it eventually opens with no content.

I've gone around and around on this using aspnet_regiis -i and many other suggestions to the point where I don't know what a properly configured sites behavior would be.

Can you describe to me the standard way deployed .aspx pages are accessed on the server for testing and any other hints to get me going again?

No, but thx.

Being a newby, and having so many problems with iis/configuration I had missed the obvious. You can't File/Open an .aspx page. You have to use the http://server/virtual_dir/page.aspx path.
