Omri breaks down what's new over on this blog.

Steve Maine and I are about to talk about the “deeper support for the web” pieces at Mix, as well as a couple of post-Orcas pieces.

Should be fun.

Would one of those post-Orcas pieces be the recently cut Entities?

Hey Don,

Just came from your session. I was the guy who asked the question about adding complexity over simple concepts (HTTP GET) so that the consumption (i.e. the "tax") of these things actually becomes more prohibitive than before. Certainly your response about the fine line between providing an higher level abstraction and providing access to the low level bits makes sense from a platform vendor, like Microsoft.

That being said, however, it seems a pity that the "appearance" of what you guys are doing with REST over WCF seems destined for the same chaos that was/is SOAP and WS-*

Mike,

I guess they didn't pull the wool over any eyes (the Canadian ones, at least)! But then you're also the guy at the last PDC that asked the architecture panel how SOA could be a new thing when there was nothing new in it (to significant applause). I sympathize with your point, but expect that WCF Hands-On 2nd-Edition will dismiss us as having an HTTP fetish

Microsoft: Please don’t make us write objects to an HTTP context. We write data to an HTTP stream.
