SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition is finally available. Here's the downloads for the various parts.
 
Update 11-Jan-2007: The earlier issues that caused the downloads to be pulled from the download sites is resolved. The final downloads are now available; see my post SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Released (for real this time).
 
If you're a Visual Studio 2005 developer, just download and install Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 and you'll get SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition.
Update 11-Jan-2007: The above statement is no longer true. Initially the expectation was that the Visual Studio 2005 SP1 install would link to the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Tools for Visual Studio 2005 SP1 install. Now they're two separate installs (which makes sense) -  see my post SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Released (for real this time) for the current download information.
 
If you're a non-Visual Studio 2005 developer, download the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition SDK. To setup non-developer machines, download the Runtime for the core capabilities, and the Server Tools if you plan to do synchronization via Remote Data Access (RDA) or Merge Replication.

its not final...
final is removed from the web, replaced with RC1...

They're having a bit of trouble which ultimatly has caused them to roll back.

I believe the issue is the weather that they're having in the Pacific Northwest. There are still upwards of 200K people who do not have electricity.

I spoke with the folks who are responsible for the download and they tell me that we should see the final downloads back up there any day now.

I'll post an update once things get back on track.
