Last week was great for me in many ways. I got to spend it with Bill,
Fritz and
Keith teaching the third installment of our
.NET Campsight course on building distributed applications with .NET 2.0. We had an awesome cohort of students who were interactive and entertaining. I felt a little rusty after being away for so long, but I can't think of a better way to get right back to the action. Btw, I can't think of a better place to be while at MS than the Redmond Town Center -- the food and beds are top-notch -- which is all that really matters to me while away from home. ;-) I'm starting to fall in love with the Oysters at Matt's.
During the week I was able to see one of my old partners in crime,
Martin Gudgin, it had been a long time but he hasn't changed a bit. He seemed excited to be done with the standards work and onto an Indigo role. We also had dinner with
Mark Fussell where we discussed everything WSE3 and some work we're doing for their team. It's always great to hang out with Mark and get his perspective on things. During dinner, we had a surprise visit from
Omri who found us at the RTC. We also had the pleasure of hanging with
Mike Woods all week -- an all around great guy on the BTS team -- as well as Bill Gibson -- Mr. Whitehorse -- who is going to make contract-first development a reality in a future version of Visual Studio .NET.
Here are a few of my favorite student comments from last week:
"Pluralsight instructors seem uniquely suited to providing the guidance necessary to pull off distributed computing successfully. They have a passion for the technology, and have the inside knowledge and cumulative experience necessary to paint the distributed system picture clearly and insightfully."
"In a world of continuous change in technology it very satisfying to attend a course that will facilitate the endeavour of embracing these new technologies."
