The fact that Karsten hasn't posted since last August suggests that it is. Seriously, I used to find hope in UDDI for dealing with one simple use case: helping clients deal with nomad endpoints. But the lack of adoption and decrease in hype really has me wondering if it will ever go anywhere. In a recent conversation with a friend, we jokingly concluded that UDDI has become a successful Yellow Pages; the only problem is most of the listings don't have telephones.
It also seems like WS-Addressing could help displace the need for a directory service, at least for my use case, if redirects are all handled on the backend. I'd love to hear other opinions.
